Athens Riviera: exotic Eden beach, Saronida - snorkeling experience in G...

Welcome to the riviera of Athens, Greece. Feel an exotic experience while exploring the crystal clear waters of Attica and doing snorkeling. Eden beach is located 46 kilometers south of Athens center, in Saronida, Anavyssos. A magnificent protected bay with crystal clear waters, with the characteristic Black Rock dominating, it has been awarded the Blue Flag for 20 consecutive years. At Eden Beach, the heart of cosmopolitan entertainment beats, while gazing out over the beautiful Attica sunset. Snorkeling (British and Commonwealth English spelling: snorkelling) is the practice of swimming on or through a body of water while equipped with a diving mask, a shaped breathing tube called a snorkel, and usually swimfins. In cooler waters, a wetsuit may also be worn. Use of this equipment allows the snorkeler to observe underwater attractions for extended periods with relatively little effort and to breathe while face-down at the surface. Snorkeling is a popular recreational activity, particularly at tropical resort locations. It provides the opportunity to observe underwater life in a natural setting without the complicated equipment and training required for scuba diving. It appeals to all ages because of how little effort is involved and is the basis of the two surface disciplines of the underwater sport of finswimming. Snorkeling is also used by scuba divers when on the surface, in underwater sports such as underwater hockey and underwater rugby, and as part of water-based searches conducted by search and rescue teams. Essential equipment includes the snorkel for breathing, and a diving mask or swimming goggles for vision. Swimfins for more efficient propulsion are common. Environmental protection against cold, sunburn and marine stings and scratches is also regionally popular, and may be in the form of a wetsuit, diving skins, or rash vest. Some snorkellers rely on waterproof sunscreen lotions, but some of these are environmentally damaging. If necessary, the snorkeller may wear a weightbelt to facilitate freediving, or an inflatable snorkelling vest, a form of buoyancy aid, for safety. Underwater photography has grown in popularity since the early 2000s as waterproof cameras became affordable to recreational users. Many snorkelers now carry a waterproof camera with them while they snorkel and may record photographs or video clips and later share them on social media platforms or post them to other websites. This mass of documentation has enormous scientific potential, as millions of tourists are able to cover greater areas than professional scientists whose field-study time is limited. Various citizen science programs have emerged to realize this potential. Thus underwater photographs of natural subjects become database records of geo-located and time-stamped species observations. The observed species may be identified by the contributor or by other website users or team members, depending on the platform. Various protocols for organization and self-directed study for snorkelers interested in natural science also exist. At Réunion island, these approaches have resulted in many new records and even the discovery of new species. Saronida (Greek: Σαρωνίδα) is a seaside resort village and former community in East Attica, Greece. It is part of Athens metropolitan area. Saronida is located on the Saronic Gulf coast, in the southeastern part of the Attica peninsula. It lies on the western foot of the Olympos hill. It is 2 km northwest of Anavyssos, 10 km south of Kalyvia Thorikou and 31 km southeast of Athens city centre. Greek National Road 91 (Athens - Sounio) passes through the town. Saronida is connected to Athens by bus services. Saronida in antiquity was an area of the Attic Municipality of Saronikos that was located on the coast of Trittya, according to the administrative division of Kleisthenos. Today it is a popular holiday community in Southeastern Attica, built on the shores of the Saronic Gulf, in the wider residential complex of Lavreotiki. The area presents significant tourist traffic and has a large number of summer homes due to its long and sandy beach. In recent years, however, more and more people choose it as their permanent place of residence. The center of the community is located in front of the Saronic Sea, at the junction of Sounio and Saronidos Avenues, from where the area becomes accessible. Saronida has an organized road plan that consists of semicircular roads that start from the hill and meet on the coastal road. The name comes from the Saronic Gulf, which overlooks the settlement. #Athens #exoticbeach #Greece #snorkeling #underwater #scuba #diving #saronida #eden

Serifos Greece: top exotic beaches, Cyclades

If you are looking for something essential this #summer, visit #Greece #Serifos. #Cyclades In the southeast corner of #Europe lies a beautiful country! It has thousands of islands and countless exotic beaches. Its inhabitants are the heirs of an ancient #civilization and have customs and traditions that go back in the depths of the centuries. That is why they will welcome you with a big smile, pride and a warm #hospitality! Do you like the video? click like and subscribe to discover #exotic beaches and places! In today's episode we will discover the best #beaches in Serifos and the rare beauty of the island! We are located in the western Cyclades. Serifos was the #island of #Danae and #Perseus, a legendary hero of the ancient Greek world. When you stand high on a rock and get lost in the endless view of the Aegean Sea, you have a unique feeling of fullness. #Greek blue, bright light everywhere, calmness and simplicity. Which gives you the power to become the hero of your own myths! We start with the beach of Agios Sostis. It is located 3 km east of Livadi, which is the port of the island. When you see the beach for the first time you will be excited, while a swim in its crystal clear waters will make you love it. You can get here by car, motorbike or for the more adventurous on foot. The picturesque chapel of #Agios #Sostis stands out. Here you will take endless photos. A big festival takes place here on September 6th and gathers the whole island! The golden sand and the sparkling clear blue waters give a tropical sense to this beach. The tamarisk trees offer natural shade, while the pier below the #church is ideal for diving and playing! On the opposite slope there is nCaved, a sample of bold architecture that combines bioclimatic technologies, automation and modern amenities. Two kilometers north lies Psili Ammos, another heavenly beach in the Cyclades! Desert lilies with all-white flowers, natural shade from clusters of trees, impressive rocks, shallow waters ideal for kids and then there is an impressive deep blue clear sea-bottom! In 2003, this beach, adored by thousands of visitors, was voted as the best in Europe! A fact that you can confirm with your own eyes! #Paradise has a name! It is located in Greece and this summer will offer you everything you need to make it truly unforgettable! For beauty, Serifos is up there with the Cyclades’ more famous islands – but it surpasses them for easygoing charm, which is why Athenians come here. That and the stylish places to stay How do you choose which Greek island to visit? There are thousands, and of course the most famous cannot be the best. For unspoilt beauty, you need a tip-off, and for one that has a little more life, you follow those in the know: the Athenians, and those smart hotel groups who seek out rarefied and spectacular destinations to woo their clientele. That the small and supremely chilled boutique hotel Coco-Mat has chosen Serifos in the western Cyclades is an indicator that this island has something special going on. The eponymous Greek interiors brand behind it makes indulgent but sustainable bedding and furnishings in Xanthi, north-east Greece, from wool, wood and seaweed, and its foray into hotels has a characteristically upmarket but rustic ethos. Not without influence is the influx of arty Athenians who have been short-breaking on Serifos, buying simple village homes and rural villas to create stylish holiday hideaways and bringing this craggy barren outpost a bit of edge. Where the cognoscenti trickle, the businesses that cater to them – the coffee shops, the cocktail lounges, shops selling expensive kaftans rather than retsina – will spring up. You can find a smattering here, but what makes Serifos irresistible, even to those who hate that kind of thing, is that it is incredibly low-key, confined really to the main town, Chora, whereas the rest of the island is as wild and raw as any tiny speck on the map you could hope to unearth. The best-known Cyclades – Mykonos and Santorini, 50 and 75 miles away – are drowning in chichi nightlife, luxury hotels and fine dining, and the tourist numbers to match. But charming, sleepy Serifos, with its unusually dramatic peaked landscape, outshines both, while its lack of an airport deters the crowds. Livadi is the Greece of 80s brochure tourism, a cheerful, taverna-lined suntrap for lollies and beach balls, grocery stores and yachties (of the Sunsail, not oligarch variety). For atmosphere Chora town, which tumbles from a southern hilltop like a lava flow of whitewash, is the place. Hand-painted arrows led us to the attractive square, paved in marble and packed with turquoise tables and chairs.

Athens, Greece 4K WALKING TOUR: Glyfada beach

The exotic coast of #Athens, #Greece is full of people enjoying the sunshine and swimming. It is the beginning of January 2022 and Glyfada #beach is offering unique moments to its visitors. Starting from the tram stop Κέντρο Ιστιοπλοΐας / Kentro Istioploias, the #Glyfada #public beach area goes on for another 2.5km heading #south. This stretch is not all entirely beach, there are #marinas mixed in and a few #restaurants and #cafes as well. If you are coming from the center of Athens, the tram is the easiest way to get to the beaches. From #Syntagma square it will take about 40 minutes to get to the Glyfada beach on the #tram. For #visitors to the area, this is a great way to see the #Coast! The public beach in Glyfada is towards the north of the #resort, and is actually two beaches interrupted by a headland with a nightclub and restaurant. Both beaches are long and pebbly, with none of the facilities of the private beaches, but still a stone’s throw from Glyfada’s #shops, cafes and restaurants. The #water is crystal clear at Glyfada Beach and even if the surface is a little gravelly the shore is kept clean. Back from the water’s edge there are softer patches of coarse sand on both beaches where you can lay your towel and put a parasol. Glyfada Kentro Beach This beach is a 5 minute walk from the main #Metaxas shopping street. This beach is popular in the ‘off-season’ for strolling along the waterfront. Because of it’s proximity to central Glyfada, people will pop down and walk along it to add a taste of the sea to their day. There is a newly renovated ‘fish market’ along side of this beach where you will find local fisherman selling their catch-of-the-day in the morning. #Ark cafe bar is located a bit south of this beach and #Nikolas tis #Schinoussas fish restaurant is on the other end. #Asteria #Touristico Beach I call this beach Touristico because it is a small little area located next to a famous Glyfada landmark, the touristiko periptero and Zervas Restaurant. The #city of Glyfada has added some new landscaping to all of the beaches and a few other features like tiki umbrellas, changing rooms and benches are scattered along the coast. Glyfada Beach 3 It is a large sandy beach with pebbles along the shore. There is a kiosk not too far from this beach so you can easily grab your snacks and drinks because there is no longer any cafe open on this beach. The Palmyra Hotel is a block away from this beach area. A well-to-do resort on the Athens Riviera, Glyfada is where Greek tycoons, politicians and foreign oligarchs go for sun, sea and sand a short drive of the capital. To the uninitiated it’s a kind of #Greek #Marbella, with luxury boutiques, snazzy #cocktail bars, a golf course and a string of #private beaches. There’s enough #nightlife, restaurants and shops in Glyfada that you’d only ever need to travel to Athens for sightseeing. But you could also take a look around and see what the neighbouring towns have in store. #Vari close by is known for its gigantic grilled meat restaurants, while #Vouliagmeni has a lovely natural lake that has become a spa resort. This church in Glyfada is small but a joy to behold inside and out. Saints #Constantine and Helen #Cathedral Completed in 1934, it has the #Byzantine tetraconch design (four apses). Over the last decade the interior has been entirely overhauled and the church’s old frescoes have been replaced by brilliant mosaics. These were composed by the artist Vlasios Tsotsonis who has produced Byzantine-style art for dozens of churches not just in Greece but also North America. A special time to be here is on 21 May, when people come to venerate the relics of St Helena, the Empress of the Roman Empire in the 4th century and mother of Constantine. Glyfada’s #streets have been planned like a pedestrian mall: They curve around the bay in concentric semi-circles, while the buildings have multiple levels that can be accessed from the outside on foot and are broken up by passages lined with yet more shops. And if there’s something special you need, or you just want to see what turns up Glyfada has a serious choice of stores for what is a small-ish resort. Gap, H&M, Boss Menswear, Tommy Hilfiger, Zara, Mango, Sephora, Marks & Spencer, Claire’s and Pull and Bear are all here, in between locally owned #boutiques and #design shops. #riviera #lifestyle #summer #holidays #vacation #exotic #places

Athens, Greece 4K WALKING TOUR: Alimos beach

The exotic coast of #Athens, #Greece is full of people enjoying the sunshine and swimming. It is January 2nd 2022 and Alimos #beach is offering unique moments to its visitors. In less than half an hour from the #center of Athens is the beach of Alimos. Its #location and easy access are key factors for which this beach is so #popular with #Athenians. It is the first organized beach in the #southern suburbs. Due to its size, it gives the impression that it is three separate beaches. In fact it is one, but divided into three parts. Alimos beach has clear and cool waters and wide #sandy #coast. It gives anyone the opportunity to enjoy a #swim on hot #summer days without having to #travel long distances. The access is easy from the center of Athens by bus or tram. The size of Alimos beach is such that it covers two tram stations. The first locates at the #Kalamaki station and the second at the #Zephyros station. Of course, you can visit Alimos beach by car too, since you can find plenty of parking areas there. For those who prefer #activities in addition to simply enjoying the sun, Alimos beach is organized with a special area at the back for #rackets. You can also find beach #volleyball courts and a #waterpark for the fun of young and old with water bikes, #canoes and many other kinds of #watersports. If, on the other hand, all you want is enjoy the #sun and the #sea, then the numerous beach bars can offer moments of relaxation on the sunbeds with pillows on the beach, providing food and drink all day. For the safety of the bathers a net is placed in the deep, while three lifeguards stand by along the entire length of the beach. Alimos is a sandy beach with a well-developed infrastructure, located in the suburbs of Athens. The beach is popular with families with children, youth, fans of passive #relaxation. Residents of the #EU and the #Balkan Peninsula predominate among the #guests here. Beach description The surface of Alimos is covered with soft golden sand and small pebbles. There is calm and sunny weather with a small amount of weak waves. On the beach there is a cafe, bar, sun loungers, showers, toilets and trash cans. A confectionery company operates in its vicinity, and bus and metro stops are nearby. Alimos guests are offered the following leisure options: tasting #food and #drinks by the sea; rental of water transport (boats, catamarans); sunbathing on a comfortable sun lounger; exploration of the territory of Greater Athens; Sea sports (water skiing, banana trips, etc.). The beach is located 10 km south of Athens. It can be reached by metro, bus, personal transport or taxi. When is the best time to go? Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The #holiday season begins in #May and reaches a peak in #July-#August: there are too many #tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or #September-#October. Still, the locals enjoy this #beautiful and #picturesque place all year round. #Bolivar #Nalu #Akanthus #Peñarrubia #lounge #Bikini #CapeSol #Makaw #Aktiiliou

#Greece is an exotic country in southeastern Europe with thousands of #islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas, ideal for unforgettable summer #vacation. Influential in ancient times, it's often called the cradle of Western civilization. #Athens, its capital, retains landmarks including the 5th-century B.C. #Acropolis citadel with the #Parthenon temple. Greece is also known for its #beaches, from the black sands of #Santorini to the party resorts of #Mykonos. Welcome to Greece. #Hedonists rejoice! Greece is ancient sun-bleached ruins piercing blue skies, the balmy Aegean lapping an endless coastline and a culture alive with passionate #music, wonderful #cuisine and thrill-seeking #activities. Cultural Treasure The roots of Western culture are in Greece. Step into the ring where Olympians first competed. Climb steps hewn out of stone to #Meteora’s monasteries, perched atop towering rocks. Contemplate the oracle’s insights from the grandeur of #Delphi, take in a starlit drama at an ancient outdoor theatre and be stunned by massive marble sculptures dredged up from the Aegean. Greece has endless cultural pursuits and a calendar bursting with #festivals, #holidays and exhibits. Wildly Natural Whether you're a serious adrenalin junkie or dedicated beach bum, Greece delivers. Meander through olive groves, idyllic villages and petrified forests. Thrill seekers will discover world-class kitesurfing, wreck diving, and rock-climbing locations with dizzying views. Or simply hop on a boat and set sail into the glittering blue beyond. Local Flavours The core ingredients of Greek cooking are often found in the chef's garden. Feta and olive oil are universal across the country, but unique regional produce and cooking styles make travelling here a culinary adventure. Taste herbs and mountain greens you've never heard of, mussels steamed in ouzo, bread baked with olives, and fish straight from the sea. Taste-test crumbling feta, honeyed soft cheeses and sharp, hard rounds. Find Italian influences in risottos and pastas and Turkish spices woven into delicate sweets. The result is a country seemingly riddled with challenges, yet full of people loving life. #Hydra Idyllic island getaway, convenient to Athens and the #Peloponnese, with picturesque harbor, casual beaches, enticing coastal hikes, and no cars (but plenty of donkeys). #Nafplio Greece's first capital and finest midsized town, with a cozy port, an elegant Old Town, a cliff-topping fortress, and energetic street life; handy to nearby ancient sites (#Mycenae and #Epidavros). #Olympia Birthplace of the Olympic Games, with stunning temple ruins, a still-functional stadium, and an intimate museum of ancient masterpieces. #Monemvasia Greece's #Gibraltar-like fortress on an imposing rock peninsula jutting out into the sea, blending Venetian and Byzantine charm, traffic-free cobbled lanes, and million-dollar views. Delphi Mountainside draped with the Sanctuary of #Apollo and other once-grandiose structures, where ancients came to consult the oracle. Mykonos Quintessential (and very popular) Greek isle with postcard-perfect whitewashed village, old-fashioned windmills, and pulsating nightlife; ruins on nearby #Delos mark the birthplace of Apollo and a once-mighty shipping center. Santorini Romantic island destination built on the remains of a volcano crater, renowned for cliff-clinging white villages punctuated by blue-domed churches, volcanic black-sand beaches, and spectacular sunsets. Mycenae Legendary mountaintop palace/fortress with iconic Lion Gate, massive beehive tomb, and mythic links to the Trojan War. #Mani Peninsula Remote, rustic region with dramatic hill towns, spectacular caves (Pyrgos Dirou), and breathtaking jagged coastlines.

Magic forest 4K walking tour

Everybody has a special place, especially as a child. Discover the magic forests of Europe! In this episode we visit #Greece and the enchanting landscape of Karpenisi area at the central mainland. #relaxing #video #Asmr When walking to the #Magic #Forest, everything seems to be different. Time stops and a unique experience begins. It is surrounded by large hills and snow white #mountains, so you are in a small #valley with #river between these hills. After you notice most of the details around you, you begin to feel as if you are in a #fairy #tale. The #scenery in the Magic Forest allows you to pretend that you are in a place where you could actually see an elf or fairy. It is all part of the magic of this place. The surroundings, sense of #adventure, and our #imagination always drew us to this part of the #woods. It made us feel like we were no longer in the real #world. When you step through the #trees, all you can see is green. The whole ground is covered in #grass that is long and bright green. Some rocks are completely covered in soft, fuzzy, #green #moss. The moss makes everything look as soft as cotton. Next, you start to notice the #wildflowers and other plants. The #flowers are pink, purple, white, and many other #colors. Some are as large as your hand. The huge #mushrooms catch your attention next. There are many different kinds. The mushrooms grow all over the place, on tree trunks, on the rocks, and everywhere else possible. Then, you start to notice the #light. It #filters through the outreaching tree branches to the forest floor. It leaves shifting patterns on the floor due to the ever-moving leaves on the branches, alternately making everything either bright or #hidden in shadows. The light gives everything a constantly moving effect, as though nothing is ever standing still. While looking up at the light, you notice that the branches over-head are very close together. They are woven together almost like fabric. The branches form one huge canopy over the top of this magical spot. You begin to hear the #sounds of forest. First, in the #silence, you hear the wind #whispering through the trees. This is also when you notice the slight breeze on your cheeks. The leaves, rustling against each other, create a #calming sound. Then, you begin to hear the sounds in the background. You can hear the cows mooing. You can hear the different pitches and volumes of their voices. It is almost as though you can understand them. Next, you hear the #birds singing in the trees. Some songs are high-pitched and fast-paced, while others are slow and mournful. When you lean back your head and look into the trees, you can see these birds. So, you can hear their #song, which sounds very sad and lonely. You see a rainbow of colors, from red to blue. Then you begin to hear the leaves and grass, on the ground, rustling. This is the sound of all the forest creatures scampering away into their hiding places. However, if you wait a while, without moving, you will begin to hear them rustling around again. If your imagination is working, it sounds as though there are fairies or elves trying to hide from you, instead of the animals that live there. You may even get lucky enough to catch a peek of a rabbit or #deer. Often, however, you find yourself waiting for a mystical being, instead of a real animal. It is still a neat experience to see a wild animal up close, even if you do end up wishing that it would have been an elf or a fairy. While standing in the Magic Forest, several different #aromas surround you. The most distinct is the sweet smell of freshly cut hay. Then, you begin to notice the #earthy #smell coming from the ground. Finally, you can pick out the scent of the wildflowers that are growing all around you. Most of the flowers are sweet smelling, but some have their own unique scent. While #wandering around the magical forest, you may begin to touch things. First, you might feel the tree trunks. They are rough and hard. Then, you may decide to see what the mushrooms feel like. They feel dry and spongy. Next would come the huge rocks; these are smooth, cold, and moist. While exploring the rocks, you may feel the moss that grows thick on them. This moss is very soft and fuzzy. It is also cold and moist.
